Lee Greens is a community-led veg bag scheme. We have a few paid part-time members of staff including a box scheme co-ordinator and delivery drivers. The remainder of the team are dedicated and ethusiastic volunteers. We are a friendly, local bunch that are all driven to provide the best local veg service we can.
We will advertise our paid and volunteer roles here, but in the meantime please get in touch with us directly if you are interested in joining our team by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Delivery persons and drivers
We are looking for drivers and non-driving delivery persons to deliver the veg bags to the pickup points from around 11:30pm to 4pm on Thursdays. You can be a regular driver or backup driver to cover holiday and sickness on an occasional basis. Or if you don't wish to drive you could work alongside the driver helping to deliver the bags to the various pick up points. You need to be fit enough to lift a number of carrier bags or small crates.
The salary is £12 per hour with 6 days of holiday per year. You are entitled to get a discounted veg bag.
This is a permanent position (following a probation period), although we are also looking for backups to be available on an occasional basis – so let us know if you want to be added to our reserves list.
To apply please send your CV and a short covering letter to email@example.com.
The closing date for applications is Friday 7 December.
First Stage: Short telephone interview
Second Stage: In person interview
Volunteer veg packers
Throughout the year, we also need to recruit some vegetable packers to help provide cover. If you are free on a Thursday morning between 9am and 1pm, please consider joining our team. Packing vegetables is a great way to meet other people in the community and as well as providing tea and coffee during the pack, we will give you a bag of delicious, fresh, organic vegetables to take home.
We are looking for people who are enthusiastic about locally sourced organic vegetables, who and are keen to join us in challenging existing food channels with a passion to make a difference.
Volunteering opportunities vary depending on how many hours you’d like to commit. It could involve anything from the following: helping us at foodie events (working on a stall), delivering leaflets in the local area, packing veg into bags, administrative tasks, looking for partnership opportunities, or simply helping us spread the word about our scheme.
What you’ll get out of it
You will gain experience of working within a new social enterprise, the first of its kind in the local area. You will meet and work with local people, bringing real positive change to the community and the way we source and eat food.
Whether you want to gain experience for your CV or want to meet people in your community, there’s plenty of volunteering opportunities so get in touch!
Please contact us and tell us about your skills and experience and the hours you have to commit to the Veg Bag scheme.
